Below, I speak to myself.
You are worthy. You are unique. You are special.
Learn to love yourself. Treat your soul. Free your mind.
Respect your body. Respect your values. And respect yourself.
Practice gratitude. Practice gratitude. Practice gratitude.
Be grateful.
Increase your spiritual knowledge.
Connect with God.
Change your perspective on life.
Reminder: I am worthy.
….
I speak to you all.
I know, sometimes we are faced with moments in our lives where we get confused. We become hopeless. We become desperate to reach what should not be approached. We become curious. We want to know the unfamiliar. We want to live the unexplored to escape the accustomed.
In moments like these, learn to draw barriers. Learn not to cross the line. Learn to respect yourself, your values and even your body.
Never demean yourself for anyone. Never.
Some, tend to seek their worth in men. They look for acceptance, belonging and appreciation from men. They strip their clothes to find their naked bodies in front of men who only seek temporary pleasure. Temporary. That’s all it is. I can say a lot about men and their behaviours, but for now I speak to you. I speak to us. I speak to women.
When the curtain of humility falls and she stands alone with her cold body, then a sense of emptiness will surround her. Her soul will be torn. But here I say again, your are worthy. Your body is sacred. Take care of it. Respect it. Protect it. Know your worth. Mistakes happen. We stumble along the path. But learn to balance your steps. And keep walking.
For most brown girls, it seems that marriage determines a woman’s worth. She is worthless if she is passed the age of marriage (even though there isn’t one but our society has placed limits and a time on our freedom and bodies). A woman is perceived worthless if she cannot take care of her in-laws. She is worthless if she is not educated enough or if she cannot cook and clean. And it goes on. But listen, you are worthy. You are deserving of self-love and respect. You are free. You are beautiful. Never allow society and even family to make you feel like you are any less than someone else. Be patient and trust God, it will all fall in place whatever your path may be.
