May 14. Mother’s Day.

On this day, I celebrate mothers. I celebrate their strength, courage, and patience.

I celebrate brown mothers. Our mothers are the roots that hold our families together. I admire them. I admire my mother’s strength and struggle to keep my family together when it was on the edge of being shattered. I admire her patience when she faced difficulties from her in-laws. I admire her courage when she left her family behind to settle and begin a new life in a foreign land. My mother should be celebrated every day. Brown mothers should be celebrated every day. All mothers should be celebrated.

Value your mother’s sacrifices. Respect her. Love her. Our mothers need it most.
